Hello,

nico
I am nico!

“I wonder what kind of person makes this?”

If you've ever wondered that — thank you.

I'd love to share a little about myself and what creating means to me.

I'm nico, an illustrator born in Tomakomai, Hokkaido.

My signature mushroom haircut has been with me since my school days.

As a child, a calligraphy class drew me into the world that dots and lines can create, and I began to draw.

It started casually — sketching an icon for my own social media. Soon friends were asking me for portraits, and before I knew it, my work had gradually grown.

From those small beginnings, I now work in illustration, logo design, and painting.

I once drew mostly in monochrome, but through the people I met and the experiences I gathered, my world gradually became more colourful.

My current style is born from those encounters, those experiences, and the moments that move me.

Rooted in nature, living things, and the cosmos, I draw inspiration from the stories born of the people and places I meet — working across illustration, logo design, and painting.

What I value most is sensing not only the visible form, but the atmosphere and the story a person or a place holds.

Feeling the wind somewhere on a journey and suddenly remembering someone; sunlight through the trees calling back a familiar scene or a song.

Things that seem unrelated are, somewhere, connected.
I love coming across that feeling.

In logo work, I carefully give shape to what my clients hold dear and what makes their brand unique.

“I don't know what I want to say.”
“I can't picture it at all.”

That's perfectly okay.
Through conversation, we'll untangle your thoughts and discover your world together.

I also enjoy discovering new perspectives through the creative process.

In my paintings, I aim to create pieces that gently become part of everyday life.

Adding a little color to your days, or creating a space where you can breathe.

I'd be happy to deliver works that can become that kind of presence.

My Work So Far

Until now, I've worked mainly in logo design, illustration, and custom paintings.

I've been trusted with all kinds of commissions — logos for shops and brands, covers for overseas books, food-truck designs, wedding illustrations, portraits, and more.

I've also broadened where I create: painting murals (wall art), holding solo exhibitions, and planning and running art workshops using ink, brush, and paint.

Logos, illustration, painting, words.

Rather than committing to a single medium, I keep choosing whatever form communicates best in the moment.

Instagram

On Instagram, I share things like:

  • Logo case studies
  • Illustration work
  • Art and words
  • Behind the scenes of my process
  • Acrylic painting how-to videos
  • New releases
  • note post updates
  • Reels where I talk about my thoughts on creating

…and more.

I also share what I feel through my work, and the little everyday moments that move me.

“I wonder who's behind all of this.”

To answer that, I put my feelings about creating, my values, and my small discoveries into words.

I hope you'll enjoy the thoughts behind each piece, and the process behind the scenes.

Online Shop

In the online shop, I sell hand-drawn original artwork and original goods.

Every original is one of a kind.

Something that, when you catch sight of it in daily life, lifts your heart a little or gives you a quiet boost of energy.

I'd love to deliver works that can become a companion of sorts.

Work With Me

I welcome inquiries for logo design and illustration.

For those who want to give form to a shop's or brand's vision.
For those who want to sort out what they wish to say.
For those who want to build a world together, from the ground up.

Please feel free to reach out anytime.

Things that seem unrelated are, somewhere, connected.
Coming across that feeling is something I still love, unchanged.

Through the people I meet and the journeys I take, I want to keep sharpening the resolution of my senses — giving form, in words and works, to the scenes and feelings that can only be born in a single moment.

Thank you for reading this far.

I look forward to the day we might meet, somewhere, someday.
